My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Up for adoption in Texas: Sammy.

She is about two-years-old and such a bright girl she wanted to share this with you all:

"Hi, my name is Sammy, and I’m a really, really Lucky Lab! The volunteers at Lucky Lab Rescue found me in a high-kill shelter with a broken leg and knew they couldn’t leave me behind. They immediately sent me to the vet to get my leg looked at, and everyone was shocked to find out that both my front legs were broken! In spite of this, I was super snuggly and loveable.

Lucky Lab Rescue and my foster family took great care of me, taking me to the vet every week to get my casts changed, keeping track of my healing with X-rays every few weeks, and keeping their fingers crossed my legs wouldn’t need surgery. At the final set of X-rays, everyone was thrilled that both my legs healed beautifully! I’ve loved spending time with my foster family, but it’s time for me to find my own forever home.

My foster family describes me as having a “huge personality” because I’m super playful and expressive, love attention, and like to be the center of everything. They tell me I’m really smart and joke that I have a sensor for potential snuggling opportunities. I love attention from anyone… if someone looks willing to pet a dog, I make a beeline over there to see if they want to pet me.

People always comment on what a sweet girl I am, about 55 lbs of black lab-mix. I enjoy spending my days upside down on the bed or couch, especially if someone is snuggled up with me. When I see someone I can snuggle with, I like to slip over mid-air, so I land with my belly in the air, ready to be rubbed.

My foster parents are always telling me how wonderful I am. I’m completely house-broken and kennel trained and quietly sleep in my kennel when they’re gone. At night, I sleep loose in the house, usually on a dog bed, in my kennel with the door open, or with one of my human siblings who live here. I’ve gotten to go on lots of adventures with my family, in the car, camping, to the beach, and lots of places. I’m a great traveler and am well-behaved around new people and dogs. I’m content to lay at their feet and just enjoy getting to go along. I also love going in the car… it’s great for napping! Don’t get me wrong though… I still love to run around in the yard with my fosters’ children (ages 9 and 14) and dogs. The grumpy old dog who lives here has picked a couple arguments with me, but I’m great friends with all the other dogs at my foster home. My nana’s puppy is my very best friend, and I love playing with her! I also love chasing birds, squirrels, and deer in the yard. If you’re looking for a fun, young girl (I’m only two!) with a huge personality, I might be your girl."

Sammy is microchipped, spayed, and up to date on vaccinations. She ranges from very quiet and low-energy, snuggling up on the couch or in the bed with you, but will also wrestle and run sprints with our other dogs. When traveling with her foster family, she is quiet and polite, and everyone loves her! She is happiest when she is with her family, whether hiking, camping, or snuggling up with a movie.
