Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Martha Dale is a curious & energetic explorer, with a hard shell & a super-gooey sweet center. The biggest pup & leader of the pack, she needs extra love from being tough all day. Her personality is well-balanced between bold & soft, and this girl is FUNNY - she keeps us laughing from the moment her paws hit the floor in the morning!
She first discovered her love for water when introduced to a baby pool at 6-7 weeks. Since then, she has been showing us her most quirky, hilarious trait - sitting in the water bowl as though it’s her own personal jacuzzi.
Another favorite goofy MD-moment, was when she was given a single frozen blueberry for the first time, & was absolutely fascinated by it. She spent an extended amount of time trying to figure out exactly how a blueberry worked.
Martha Dale would absolutely thrive alongside an experienced owner who is able to provide training that hones in on her natural instincts & talents. An active family on a farm-type setting would be ideal for MD. It was actually moving to see how in her element she was when first meeting large animals (horses, cattle, & deer - side note: she also lives alongside free-range chickens). If you’re looking for a working companion, she just might be your gal!
Other basic stats - Martha Dale is:
- spayed
- fully vaccinated
- microchipped
- on monthly flea/tick/heartworm preventative
- treated for internal parasites
- knows basic commands
- very receptive to training
- house-trained
- walks well on a leash
- does great in the car
- used to baths/nail-trims/ear-cleaning
- well-socialized with a wide variety of humans, animals, & environments
Martha Dale was found in rural Northeast Texas at ~3 weeks old as part of a litter of 7 stray & orphaned puppies. They were found living deep in the brush, in a shelter that was formed from an old tractor tire & dirt. Their mother, a stray Texas Heeler, was found deceased nearby. With no obvious signs of external injuries, it is unknown what her cause of death was. Raised alongside her littermates & foster siblings by their rescuers, Martha Dale is one of two remaining pups still waiting to find her human!
