Here's what the humans have to say about me:
** URGENT: Biggie needs a foster, foster-to-adopt, or adopter as his original adoption placement did not work out. Biggie needs a home where his people do not travel often as he does not take to boarding well, or change in environment*
Available for adoption in: IL, IN, CT, states surrounding CT
Available for foster in: CT, NY, NJ, IL, IN and WI
Name: Biggie
Nicknames: Big. Bigs. Big Big. Crazy Butt. Biggie Smalls.
Breed: Bull Terrier
Age: 2 Years
Weight: 70lbs.
Before OMD: Brought to the city shelter when his family, who had only had him for a week, was leaving the country.
Energy level: Medium - high. Walks are fun, so is snoozing around the house.
Traits: Intelligent. Stubborn. Strong Willed. Independent. Energetic.
Our favorite feature: His Bull Terrier roman nose! Absolute perfection.
Tinder or Match: Tinder. He plays a little hard to get and he's not looking for anything serious initially. He makes you work a little before you can win him over but once you do, he's all love and affection. He's ultimately a great balance of independent and people-oriented.
Our favorite thing: How he gently "sharks" a treat, coming at you with his whole mouth open and then does this delicate little chomp. When he lets you know he wants more pets by pushing his nose into your hand. How he uses his egg shaped head to do practically everything (move things, get attention...). He's always ready for a photo opp.
His favorite things: Treats. Peanut butter Kongs. When the seam of any stuffed toy gives way and the toy bursts. Lounging outside in the yard.
His least favorite thing: The hose, and he'll tell you about it.
Trainability: Super high. He wants to learn and loves to please his people (and getting rewarded with food doesn't hurt either).
What he knows: Sit. Stay. Come. Release (when he can go from sit to eating his food). Lie down. Shake. Walking well on leash.
What he's working on: Four on the floor. Understanding what does and does not belongs in his mouth. Bringing it down a notch during initial greetings.
Favorite game: Chasing cars...in the car. This guy needs some major work on his co-pilot skills so his new family should be ready for lots of practice or minimal adventures that require a trip in the car.
Jetsetter or homebody? Homebody. He does well during the week while his humans are at work, but he thrives on a schedule he can rely on. He would do best in a home without frequent travelers as he does not do well in boarding or with frequent changes in environment.
Kids: 12+ only.
Dogs: It's complicated. He's a rough and tumble, piss off the Pope, bull in a China shop type of guy who needs an outlet for his energy and some work on his manners. Dog friends need to be patient and understanding and humans should know he is not one for sharing his toys or food with other pups.
Cats: Nope.
Housebroken: Sure is.
Crate trained: Yes, but will initially protest.
Ideal home: Bull Terrier experience. A fenced yard. Patient and dedicated to continued socialization and balanced, firm, yet positive training. Committed to routine, consistency and regular exercise.
Biggie is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states, or residents of IL and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org.
