Here's what the humans have to say about me:
COURTESY POST - Clarksville, Ohio-contact info is at the bottom of the bio
Coco is a 10 year old spayed female small Australian Shepherd. She is selective on which dogs she likes, some she does well with and some she doesn't care for. Very playful, loves to chase tennis balls. Cuddler! Loves a good butt scratch and a snuggle! House trained, crate trained, rides well in the car. Does wonderful with my kids. No issues with strangers, just doesn't always enjoy the presence of other dogs. Being fostered in Clarksville, Ohio 45113.
Coco was originally adopted from the Cincinnati SPCA in 2018, she lived with a single older woman in an apartment complex and received vet care at the clinic I work for. Always good for her exams, only a dental being needed was noted. Last month, her owner scheduled her for euthanasia out of the blue. We assumed her health had suddenly deteriorated even though she was seen just a couple months prior. Her owner had been under increasing pressure from a neighbor whose dog Coco had taken a disliking to. So much so that anytime they were being walked outside, Coco would become very reactive and difficult for her owner to control even though she is a very small Aussie. No altercation actually happened but the neighbor made enough complaints that Coco’s owner had to remove her from the apartment or face consequences. She was unable to place her in such a short timeframe so felt euthanasia was her only option. I offered to rehome her myself if she would relinquish ownership to me as I have several Aussies of my own. She readily agreed and cried with relief that her sweet companion would not have to be euthanized.
I have had her for a little over a month now and she is a very enjoyable pet. Yes, she does have her issues with some dogs but not all of them. Cats, she stares at a little too intently and we have not allowed for unleashed interaction with our cats. Ideally, she would be the only pet - this would just be the easiest home to not have to worry about integration with other pets. She definitely acts younger than 10 years old, she really enjoys playing with toys with my kids. I believe her coat was shaved as it has that look and feel, but is growing in nicely. She is up to date on vaccines, just will need a dental at some point. She is quite small at just 28 pounds.
