My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Howard!

Helloooooooo, my name is Howard. I'm about 7 years old and weigh around 65 pounds. I'm a perfect boy in the house, even though I was an outside dog for most of my life. I don't make messes, I use the doggy door to let myself out to the fenced in yard (I really like the easy access of going out when I want or need), and I'm not destructive, so I don't need to be put in a crate or confined when you go away! I get along splendidly with the other dogs in my foster home. There are even two little old lady dogs here, and I'm very respectful of them, as a true hound gentleman should be. In fact, I would love if my new home had a dog friend for me to play with, and keep me company when my family is away! As a hound dog, I really enjoy chasing critters like chipmunks and squirrels, and I'll always let you know if I see a cat, as they are also critters in my eyes. I'd also do well with kids, but please make sure they are respectful and won't climb all over me, or pull my ears or tail.

In the mornings I'll sit and enjoy coffee with you, after I get up late, of course. I really enjoy my humans and all the affection they give me. Have you ever touched a hound dog's ears? They're just like velvet, and mine are the best of the best! Good news is, if you make me part of your family you'll get to touch them whenever you want! I also really enjoy sniffing in the yard, and baying at all the things that I think might be fun to catch (or tree). When it's nap time, I'll find a nice pile of blankets or a cushy, comfy bed to curl up in! I've been in a few parades now, and I'm perfectly behaved, not minding all the sounds or all the people! Are you a hound loving, velvety ear touching human looking to add the most perfect boy to your family? I'd be happy to join your home!

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
