My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This handsome fella is Mouse! Mouse is a purebred German Shepherd that is neutered, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and is almost 2 years old! He is also completely potty trained and crate trained. Through no fault of his own, the wonderful people that initially rescued him from a horrible situation have realized they simply cannot give him everything he deserves. He spent almost a month living with a trainer to address some behavioral issues and is now being fostered by that trainer until we can find him the perfect home! Here’s a little more about Mouse:

Oh my goodness is this kid fun! He has a strong drive to work and enjoys practicing training because it stimulates his never-resting mind! He has made huge strides and continues to grow every day from a dog that couldn’t be touched to a dog that is insanely affectionate. His drive paired with his high energy level will definitely keep you on your toes as well as in great shape if you want a running buddy, adventure partner, or maybe even an agility competitor! He has done amazing with other dogs and would thrive with a doggie sibling to romp around with and play the day away. He has also lived well alongside cats and just wishes they would play back with him! Things Mouse LOVES: Playing in the kiddie pool full of water, a good game of tag with his doggie friends, literally any kind of food, ear rubs, fetch with his chuck-it ball, and his prized stuffed watermelon toy!

Mouse unfortunately had a pretty traumatic start in life before he was rescued, so he carries a bit of baggage and can be unsure of new people and new places if not supported properly. Although he is still working on building his confidence, his trainer has guided him and helped develop some routines that lessen that stress and bring out his best traits. He will need a very strong, confident owner to continue these routines and help make him feel safe in a world that he is still learning to trust. His foster mom is offering to continue his training with his new family for free to help ensure he succeeds! With this in mind, his ideal home would be with a person or family without young children that has ample time to exercise and work Mouse properly. He would also do best with a large yard to run and stretch those long legs of his! If you give him the time and effort he deserves, Mouse is truly an amazing dog that is loyal to no end.
