Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Heidi came to us from Southern Indiana where she was picked up as a stray dog. Heidi is about 2 years old and is a Great Pyrenees / German Shepherd Dog mix that weighs 65 lbs. She was in a foster home in Indiana and her foster mom had great things to say about her. Other than that we don't know anything else about her history and are figuring things out as we go. Heidi has been a very sweet dog who loves getting some attention and things are going very well at our home to date.
What we can tell you about Heidi is that she is a cute girl who is a very loyal and lovable dog. Heidi is pretty laid back and a mellow girl. She loves being around people and close to where you are. Heidi is learning the routine where first thing in the morning we get up, go outside and go to the bathroom, then come inside and eat breakfast. Heidi could have a dog buddy or be the only dog in the home. Heidi hasn't played with toys too much yet. She has not shown any aggression with food or toys.
Heidi sleeps in our bedroom on the floor at night and hasn't had any issues. She does appear to be fully potty trained and hasn't had any accidents since we've been fostering her. Heidi walks well on a leash and enjoys exploring the neighborhood. She has learned the sit command and likes to give you her paw for more attention. All Heidi wants is to be loved and given some attention.
I would say Heidi has a low to medium level of energy. It would do Heidi some good to have someone that is willing to spend some time with her, take her on walks, continue to get her some exercise and teach her how to be a great family dog. Heidi did test positive for heartworm in May of this year. She has been treated and will just need to continue on her monthly heartworm preventative medication and then be retested in November at one of Rover Rescue's vets. This great girl deserves a forever home and would make a great addition to your family. Heidi is up to date on all his vaccinations, spayed and microchipped.
