My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Dozer-Words from his foster mom

Let me share insight into my dreamy days with this great companion dog.

No fast wake-up for us. Our days begin with this cutie crawling into my arms and turning over for belly rubs. He’ll stay there as long as you’d like looking at you with almond-shaped eyes, which I typically choose about 15 minutes of yawning, smiles, and cuddles.

He sails his squatty body down the bed steps and to the first floor; to this day I don’t know how those little legs move so aptly to navigate steps with such ease and HUMOR!

Time to scoop up his favorite stuffy…this one, no, that one, or wait - this one. Yes, he’s chosen now and is ready to go outside. Oh, hold on a moment - he’s grabbing a second one. Okay, time to go out.

He hustles across the deck and into the grass with his prized stuffies and promptly drops them. This is part of the fun he creates for your audience participation! Go pick them up. It makes me laugh every time and, yes, there will be a stuffy drop every time he goes out! It’s his calling. His jam. His inspiration. And your comic relief.

Zoomy time! Have you seen (and heard) a short stack zoomy? You really should! There’s also tight spins in the grass and bottom-up pauses in the most bizarre displays of “athleticism” that leave you laughing. My neighbors truly must think I’m nuts with how much I smile and giggle every morning with this meatball.

Our routine is I work from home and he’s the PERFECT companion by my side. A+ co-worker. We take periodic breaks to stretch our legs and check on the yard plants (do they still smell the same, let me water this one, should I doodoo on top of this plant or use my squatty stump? Decisions are made).

Even after working all day, you know we’re still watching Netflix and sitting on the deck and in the grass. That’s what we do, chill.

I leave some days, too. For many hours. Dozer just hangs out listening to ocean waves (noise maker) and old-timey movies he’d fit right into. I leave him out in a room with 100+ yr old barn tools/wood/furniture that must smell amazing. Well, if his sniffer was more functional. Bringing me to another point - because he’s a smooshed snout breed, we take it easy so he doesn’t overheat. Gee, it’s a tough job not fostering a rowdy dog, but someone’s got to do it.

Meal times are always enriching - no boring bowls here! We use toys and games. He loves it and looooooooves food, but he keeps his body svelte to promote health.

The noises he makes, the flipping for belly rubs, stuffies, zoomies, his mannerisms - he’s pure comedy gold.

He has 2 senior dog neighbors (yellow lab and akita) and none bark at each other. Sometimes they play zoomies along the fence. He also has short yard play dates with a dog his size he sees & knows well, but does not want to live with dogs or any other pet. Or kids for that matter. Or second adult. He’s a real friendly guy to people. With an undying devotion to you; you’re his world. Feel honored. Feel happy. You’re what he wants and needs.

His 2 vaca house sitters love him and call him “easy.” Whereas I call him “traitor” since he forgets about me so quickly and loves up to them. That’s how I know the bond you two will create will be magic.

Do you like to laugh? Do you love snuggles and a friend in the room? Does your heart hurt, he’ll fix that. Does your home feel too empty, he’ll fix that, too. Or maybe you just want a great companion, he’s the one!

Adopting Dozer comes with one free consultation with our certified professional dog trainer, some occasional grunts, snorts and heavy panting, and a whole lot of love. Dozer is neutered, up to date on all medical and vaccines, and ready to move onto your couch. Help us get this meatball a home of his very own!
