My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Application required to schedule a visit with any dog, all dogs are in foster homes.

This special guy is Bosley.

Bosley had a rough start. His first owners kept him chained for the first 3 years of his life before finally surrendering him to the local shelter, complaining that he was not an effective enough guard dog. By the time he was taken into his current foster home, he was showing obvious signs of physical neglect and was in real need of some TLC.

However, Bosley is now used to a very different sort of life! He has been with his current foster family for several months where he has finally had the opportunity to be the playful, attentive, and loving dog that he was always ready to be; he has become a real favorite with his foster family. He is incredibly responsive; he follows commands readily, and it is easy to see how eager he is to please. Bosley also loves to play! He loves to play fetch, and clown around with his toys. He walks reasonably well on a leash, and has learned to run along next to a bicycle for regular exercise. He plays well with other dogs, though he can be dominant, so all play should be supervised. Bosley is also a huge cuddler- he loves to cuddle up with dogs and people alike, and he never tires of affection. Though he doesn’t beg for attention, he really does love to be shown affection and always responds by closing his eyes and letting out an appreciative snort. He really is a love, with lots of personality.

Bosley is house trained and crate trained; he also knows ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, and ‘heel’ as well as various commands like ‘in the truck!’ (this one is his favorite). He is very fit and does need regular walks and/or runs, but if provided with these, he is a very mellow and easy going boy who is very easy to have around.

Bosely will make an absolutely wonderful pet for the right owner. Given his history, he really needs someone who is an experienced dog owner and can continue to provide him with consistency and leadership. He needs someone who understands this breed as well as the pack mentality of dogs in general. This is a very special boy who really needs that special owner to come along and continue to give him the structure, leadership, exercise, love and affection that he responds so remarkably well to. In return, we promise that you will find him to be that very special dog who comes along only once in a great while.

Adoption Requirements

*CPBR rarely makes same sex placements for purebred pit bulls, exceptions only for mixes and breed savvy, multi-dog experienced owners, all pets in the home must be spayed/neutered

*Adopters must be at least 25 years old (exceptions may be made for homeowners that show a history of stability and responsibility).

*We check property records. You must either be a home owner or get approval from your landlord and be able to provide us with contact info to verify that pit bulls are allowed.

*We are looking for responsible dog owners that can show they have done their research. These are people that undertand why pit bulls should not be taken to dog parks, left outside unattended, and why pit bulls should always be supervised with other animals.

Adoption Process

Requires references, home visit, contract and $150-$250 adoption fee depending on vetting and training provided . All dogs are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, de-wormed, heartworm tested and on preventative, health checked and microchipped at a minimum
