From her current family: "Choco is one unique tuxedo feline-super social, always wanting to be the center of attention, but these attributes also require an experienced cat/kitten parent. She loves to play more than anything else, so will need more attention than the average cat. H absolutely love her, but our resident cat (11-year-old male) has had a tough time sharing his space. Being stressed is no way to live for either, so we've made the decision to rehome her with someone that will give her the love and care she deserves.
The Cute Stuff · She adores windows and perches, and they keep her entertained for hours. She loves head/nose boops and chin scratches, and flops on her belly when wanting to play. Has never quite learned how to meow, so she just makes random chirps and sound. Very adaptable; settles into new environments very quickly and begins to make them her own. Sleeps for hours when not home, so no issue leaving her home while away for work.
Experienced Cat Owner Stuff · Choco seeks affection on her own terms-she is NOT a lap cat, so don't try to make her one. Does not like being handled and will bite if you keep grabbing her but can be picked up briefly. Can be hard to read sometime because she doesn't exhibit some typical cat cues. Does not like being disciplined (no cat does really) and will discipline you back. Hard to get into carriers for vet visits, but with a little patience you'll be fine. Has some separation anxiety but feeding her as you're leaving should do the trick.
Lot of the above can come as a surprise to some new, inexperienced cat parents, but should be run of the mill for those who have had young cats before. To us, she is friendly and goofy, with a bit of an edge-something we personally like. She'll need a home where that is appreciated. As such, we recommend no kids or seniors, lots of windows, and a fair amount of space.
Though she hasn't had much luck with our older cat, mostly of no fault her own, she may get along with another her same age that is equally as confident in her/himself. In fact, she may do well wrestling with fellow felines to let out a bit of that energy. For the right person, we're happy to "trial" her for a few weeks with another cat (or dog), knowing they've introduced cats before and are experienced with cats."

More about this shelter
Kitsap Humane Society is a private, nonprofit animal shelter. We rescue and rehome over 6000 pets each year. Every dog or cat leaves our shelter spayed or neutered and with complete vaccines and a microchip. We have been caring for animals in need since 1908 and envision a time when all adoptable pets have loving homes.
We are extremely proud of our exceptionally high “lives saved” rate of over 96%. Through our active adoption, behavior, foster, transfer, and veterinary programs, we are able to rehome every adoptable animal that enters our facility. No animal is ever euthanized for lack of space.
In addition to caring for and adopting animals, we also provide spay/neuter services to low income residents of Kitsap County, and provide Animal Rescue and Enforcement services to our surrounding municipalities.
