Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Charlie! This Texas boy's story reads like a country song. He was impounded after being hit by a car, no one came to claim him, and needed to have surgery on his leg -- twice -- due to injuries sustained in the accident. Recovering from that, he then needed to undergo heartworm treatment, which will be completed in a few weeks. No home...*howl*...hurt leg...*howl*...broken heart...*howl*...but that's all temporary!
While we can't be sure about Charlie's pre-accident past, we do think he's about 4 years old, and he looks like he could have some Swiss Mountain Dog in him. He is neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations. He's been around a variety of dogs and has done great with them all. He is big and has a lot of energy, and loves walks and toys -- he loves his toys so much that he doesn't even damage his stuffies.
He is gaining home experience as he recovers from those sad-country-song elements of his life, and we know that he was a good boy when meeting an 11-year-old, dog-aware human child. However, he is exuberant on leash and is big and strong, and could accidentally knock over a small child; Charlie needs to be brought along by a capable adult who will join him to make the perfect duet, turning his sad songs into love songs!
In order for Summit Dog Rescue to tag Charlie, he will need an approved foster or adopter.
For more info about this wonderful boy and/or to apply to foster or adopt him, send an email of inquiry to SummitDogRescue@yahoo.com telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment, and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you as soon as they can.
