Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi, my name is Courage - Curry for short. I was given my name in the hopes that I would become a brave boy! I was in a kill shelter in Newport News, VA until ASF rescued me, and the shelter really scared me. It’s okay though, because I am the sweetest boy beneath my fear.
I am about 5 years old, neutered and up to date on vaccines. I have the absolute sweetest disposition. I’m about 40lbs and great in the car. I don’t bark, usually although sometimes I will howl if my foster brother does, but just for a minute. I love my crate and stay in it most of the time by choice because I feel safe there. I don’t have a mean bone in my body!!! I am good with kids, but I am afraid of the young, loud and fast moving ones.
I would like a low key, confident, canine brother or sister. Sometimes in the yard I get the zoomies and run with my foster brother and sister and I have just started spinning in circles with excitement for treats! I have a mischievous streak and will steal shoes or other items if I feel left behind. I get anxious if my human is away from me and always want to be with my humans. I am just afraid of lots of things, because something happened to me in my past where someone hurt or scared me. I don’t like yelling and I duck through doorways. My foster mom thinks that I got hurt in a door in the past. Sometimes I don’t want anyone to approach me, but I will let them if they come slow with a treat or leash.
I enjoy a good petting, cuddle session when I’m relaxed. I will even nudge you for more pets or give licks if you stop petting me.
I really try to be the best boy! This is my wishlist:
A home where someone is with me most of the time, as I don’t like to be alone.
If there are kids, then older kids because I don’t like lots of loud noise.
I need someone who can be patient with me and help me work through my fears.
Someone who can show me gentleness and love and that my days of being hurt are over.
A fenced yard where I can feel comfortable going outside.
A quiet neighborhood without lots of traffic and loud noises.
A confident but gentle doggie brother or sister.
I am not a dog for first time dog owners.
I trust my foster family more and try hard to be braver every single day. I am being fostered in Warrenton, VA - please fill out the application:
