My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE:4/20/23: Blue saw the vet and was updated on his yearly vetting. He now has his 3 year vaccinations, and is still heartworm negative. He also had his exam recheck as he was still struggling with some itchiness and had a recurrence on his ear infection and eyes were goopy. Vet stated ears are looking great. He needs to finish up one more week on his meds and then get a weekly maintenance treatment to prevent further issues. We are continuing to treat his eyes with Tobramycin but they had also improved. He had received a Cytopoint injection for his skin on 4/5/23. He will need to be managed as needed to prevent itchiness and recurrence of his initial skin issues that he had when he first came into the rescue in June of 2022. Overall, he is doing well and has gained weight. He now weighs 87.2 pounds as of 4/5/23. Still the awesome, lazy hound he's always been!
UPDATE 2/27/2023: BLUE WAS RETURNED TO US TODAY. Blue is a good boy but apparently he scared the toddler in the home when there was an issue with some food with another dog. Blue should be in a home with older children and should be not be table fed or allowed near the dinner table while eating. He is generally a very mellow, laid back boy who prefers to find a nice spot to sleep in but he does get grumpy sometimes if there is food around or his sleep is interrupted. Blue's skin issues appear to be gone now and he is looking and feeling great!

Say hi to Blue. Blue was an owner surrender after a relationship separation. Blue is about 5 years old and is a bluetick coonhound..a handsome fella, at that! He definitely has that coonhound bray and is as sweet and gentle as he can be. Owner stated he does well around other dogs, cats, farm animals, children...pretty much everyone and everything but we only have kids and dogs to test him with here. So far,so good...doesn't seem to care that they are there and absolutely no reactivity. The third picture really speaks of his chill dog persona. Blue lives his life on island time and takes things as they come. He just saw the vet today and medically, he is somewhat of a mess right now. Poor boy has a raging ear infection and a pretty bad skin infection but he is starting treatment for both. He has a skin tag/mole on his upper lip/cheek area but should not be anything to be concerned about. He is heartworm negative thank goodness but does have a pretty heavy intestinal parasite load (hookworms) so we have given him a drontal for that. Because of his skin and ears, he doesn't smell so great right now but that will gradually clear up so he's smelling his best once the infections clear up. We also want to fatten this guy up some as he's a bit too thin for our liking. Blue weighed just under 60 pounds (58.4 to be exact on 6/15/22) and is starting to search for his forever home. Don't miss out on this great dog!
