Meet Oreo, a 14-month-old neutered, tri-colored cocker boy. He was turned into Wake County Animal shelter by a man who got him as a youngster, and he bit him over dog food. Then a dog rescue took him into their care but gave up on him after he started showing food aggression and resource guarding. They contacted us and these issues are being addressed. No kids for this dog.
This dog cannot be placed into a home with dominant dogs. He needs a firm alpha owner who will work with him and be patient with the things he needs to learn. He can be a sweet dog. He is updated on vet care, heartworm negative and a healthy boy. He has food aggression issues that he may never overcome and you will need to feed him separately. He also has possessive tendencies if you try to crate him, but otherwise is a happy cocker boy. He is playful, friendly and kind of a lazy, laid-back dog for being so young. He will be a loyal companion to someone who will work with him. He is dog social, smart and loves to be outside in a fenced yard. When he is outside playing and or exploring, you should supervise him. No kids in a home due to crate aggression issues and possessive tendencies. He will do best as an only dog due to his past and the issues he is dealing with.
