My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hippo and Fitz are an adorable pair of active, friendly, and funny, Skinny and Abyssinian guinea pig friends looking for a loving guardian together.

Hippo is an 18-month-old skinny pig with little tufts of hair on his face and paws. Without the fur, he is very warm to the touch. His best friend Fitz, a cream and brown Abyssinian, is two and a half years old.

Hippo begs on his hind legs for his favorite veggies. And, Fitz is tolerant of Hippo’s humping; they make a funny and wonderful pair.

These boys will be fabulous with anyone who lavishes them with love.

They eat unlimited timothy, orchard and botanical hays, share two cups of fresh salad each day and a 1/4 cup of pellets. Guinea pigs need daily vitamin C which they get from fresh pellets, a 1-inch square of red pepper, or some of their dark leafy greens.

Please read up on guinea pig care and diet before adopting by visiting this excellent web site http://www.guinealynx.info/

They would love a home with people who will love them, handle them daily, keep them well-fed, nails trimmed, and keep their habitat nice and clean.

If you’re interested in meeting and possibly adopting Hippo and Fitz, please fill out the adoption application at https://friendsofpetraits.com/guinea-pig-adoption-application/ and follow up to make an appointment by contacting friendsofpetraits@gmail.com

Their adoption fee of $100 as a pair benefits the friends of Petraits Rescue Group. They have both been vet – checked, and are healthy guys! For an additional $50, we’ll include a kit of absolutely everything you need to care for them including their cage, pellets, hay, hidey huts, treats, and water bottles.

They are being fostered in Chicago’s Andersonville neighborhood.
