My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Stella is a beautiful, sweet 8-month old Great Pyrenees.  She weighs around 75 pounds, but she's pretty gentle and calm most of the time - other than occasional puppy energy or curiosity.  Stella was raised with kids and does well with them, so she would make a great family dog.

Her foster mama reports that Stella loves spending time in the yard with her humans or a good cuddle session on the couch, car rides with the windows partially down and the wind blowing in her face, and a good Benebone to chew on.

She loves her humans so much that she does have separation anxiety, which causes her to be destructive when left alone and she does not do well in a crate.  Stella's foster mom has been working hard with her to ease her separation anxiety and has had success leaving her for 1-2 hours at a time.  Stella has been attending Doggy Daycare during the day and that has been going well so far.  However, it is recommended that she go to a home where someone is home most of the time - or a home where the owner is willing to continue daycare during the day and is home at night.  Stella needs some time to adjust to her new people and environment, but with a committed adopter we believe they will be able to continue making progress with her separation anxiety.

Stella gets along with some dogs, but not all.  She has a history of same sex aggression.  We recommend a home where she is the only dog or one with a male dog as her companion.  So far she has done well with the cats in her foster home.  She is interested in them, but offers play behaviors.

If Stella has caught your attention and you are committed to helping her become a more confident pup through positive reinforcement and love, apply today!!  Her minimum adoption fee is $325 plus a $15 fee, if 4 months or older, for rabies registration for McLean County residents.

She has been spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm checked, dewormed, and is on flea and heartworm preventatives.
