My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Indie: A Loving Grey and White Cat Ready for His Forever Home
Say hello to Indie, a two-year-old grey and white male cat with a heart full of love and a sweet disposition that will win you over instantly. Indie was adopted as a younger kitten over a year ago and thrived in his home, but due to unexpected changes-like new pet allergies in the family-he's found himself back with us. Despite this turn of events, Indie remains a remarkably loving and gentle cat who's ready to find his forever family.

Indie's grey and white fur is as charming as his personality. He's an affectionate and sweet-natured cat who enjoys snuggling up for some quality cuddle time and will happily rub against you, seeking out all the love you're willing to give. His easy-going demeanor and loving ways make him a perfect companion for anyone looking for a loyal and devoted pet.

Though it's unfortunate that Indie had to return to us, we're committed to finding him the perfect home where he can settle in and become a cherished member of the family. He's a great cat who deserves a family that will embrace him with the same warmth and affection he's always given.

If you're looking for a loving, sweet-natured cat who's ready to fill your home with joy, Indie is the perfect choice. He's eager to find a new family who will appreciate his gentle spirit and give him the forever home he so richly deserves. Let's work together to make sure Indie's next chapter is filled with the love and happiness he's been waiting for.

More about this shelter

Northshore Humane Society is one of Louisiana's largest 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organizations. Since 1953, we have been serving the neglected and abandoned animals of the Northshore region. We are an independent, non-governmental rescue that offers veterinary care, fostering, adoption, and more. We rely solely on the support of caring people like you to fund our programs and services which profoundly benefit the animals of our community. Thank you for all of your support!

Our Mission:
To be the premier organization dedicated to enhancing and saving the lives of pets in the Northshore region through community engagements, adoption, spay and neuter programs, and sheltering.

Our Vision:
To lay the foundation for a no-kill nation. To learn more about a no-kill nation, we suggest visiting www.nokilladvocacycenter.org.

What We Do:
Adoptions: Each year, we rescue, care for and find loving homes for homeless animals in our community.

Veterinary Care:
Our community clinic provides excellent veterinary care to both our rescue pets and to beloved family pets. All funds raised through our clinic directly impact the care of the homeless animals of our rescue.

Foster:
Our foster families open their homes to homeless animals who are too young, sick or scared to be immediately adopted.

Volunteer:
Hundreds of volunteers take on a variety of tasks to help care for and promote our animals, assist administration, and represent NHS at community events, allowing more time for our staff to do their jobs efficiently.

Low-Cost Pet Health:
Through grant and corporate partners, we are able to provide a variety of low-cost pet care to people in need. These include low-cost spay/neuter opportunities, microchipping, vaccinations and more!
