My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

I am new to Kimie's Kritters and Kimie says that I am a mellow fellow and am as sweet as can be. My story is that my dad worked LOOOONG hours and his kids failed to feed me. My dad was attempting to surrender me to a shelter, but he didn't have an appointment. My rescuer just so happened to be pulling into the parking lot of the shelter as my dad was contemplating leaving me in the parking lot, so she offered to take me. He was grateful to be able to surrender me to her. Since I've been rescued, I have eaten more than I need to and have recently filled out. When around other dogs, I tend to simply avoid them as I am a submissive guy. So far, I appear to be housetrained (I use a doggie door to go outside). I have been around cats and will bark at them through the windows like I'm a tough guy. When I am in the same room as them, it is a different story and I simply ignore them. Because I was deprived of food, I still tend to guard my food, so will have to be fed separately from other dogs. I do not mind if my foster mom takes food away from me, so it is just with other dogs.

Go meet their pets

We are currently holding events at the Folsom PetSmart at 2705 East Bidwell next to the Home Depot on some Saturdays. Please check our Facebook Page or contact us to inquire as to whether we will be there in advance as we do not hold events every Saturday. If you are unable to attend, we can schedule a meet and greet.

More about this rescue

Kimie's Kritters Pet Rescue was started because I, Kim Scherer, was retired as a California Peace Officer and wanted to do something in my retirement that I was passionate about and that is to help animals. I took an Animal Health class. During this course, I volunteered for various animal rescues and shelters. When networking for the shelters, I saw animals that languished whom I wanted to help, but I was unable to. I enlisted the help of other like-minded individuals for the Board and we started our own 501(c)(3), non-profit organization. Kimie's Kritters Pet Rescue pulls rescue-listed animals from shelters throughout the State of California and owner surrenders.
