My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Blue, a sweet 8 year old, 6 pound Yorkie boy being fostered in southern California. Only southern CA applicants will be considered.

Update 9/21/22: Our sweet Blue is doing much better now after his refill on Prednisone. He is currently taking a small dosage everyday along with the occasional cough medicine. He still has coughing fits, but only a few times throughout the day. From waiting outside the bathroom door to whining for food every 6 a.m., Blue has gotten very accustomed to being loved and craves attention. We still find him hopping into laundry baskets and lounging around the house. We believe he will assimilate perfectly in any loving home because of how relaxed and affectionate he has become.

Update 8/9/22: Three months later and Blue is still the sweetest pup on this planet. We recently found him sleeping in one of our clothes baskets, much to our other yorkies delight, getting his own bed back. As for his Prednisone, we tried to taper it off but unfortunately it was unsuccessful. Our poor baby is currently diagnosed with lower respiratory disease. For now, we are praying that a change in medication might help because we believe he has also a collapsed trachea that is causing daily snorting and honking. Despite this, our strong pup continues to do great with lots of love and affection. We do hope that he will find a family that will be home most of day as since doesn't like to left at home alone. Thank you to all the UYR supporters that contributed his journey to better heath. With Sincere Thanks & Gratitude
Update 6/4/22: We decided that Blue needed another X-ray because his cough wasnt improving. Thankfully, after waiting countless hours, our vet confirmed that there is no problem with his trachea, but he still had some leftover inflammation. He is currently on mild steroids to correct his leftover cough. So far, after 2 weeks on it, his cough has happily subsided. We could tell he felt much better since we saw him run for the first time since arriving and wags his little tail fast whenever someone arrives home. We are monitoring him to see how he does once we ween off of his medication. On 5/24 he was neutered and had dental cleaning. His teeth are now sparkling white, and he has the brightest smile out of our dogs at home despite losing 7 teeth.

Blue is adjusting very well at his new foster home. He gets along with other dogs that are calm and mellow. He is definitely a lap dog once he feels secured and will put his paws on your legs when he wants to be cuddled. He loves his blankets and sometimes we find him sleeping in our clothes baskets. He is so attached already! He will need a forever home with someone that can take him everywhere since he does well in the car and does not like to be left alone. He doesnt squirm when being carried and is so tiny he can fit in a purse calmly. We can definitely see this little guy traveling the world!

Initial Bio 5/4/22: Blue came to us as a stray from Pasadena Humane Society and after a couple of wagging tails, he was already settled in. We fell in love with his calm and affectionate demeanor right away. However, we immediately noticed his severe coughing and loud exhales which the shelter thought was a collapsed trachea. Knowing this, we felt helpless hearing him cough and struggle to breathe throughout the night, the poor thing barely getting any sleep and continuing in the morning. When all hope seemed to be lost, our beloved vet informed us that Blue just had a cold, so he will be comfortable very soon after giving him the right medication. We are still waiting on some lab work, but this handsome little boy weighs 6 lbs and is suspected to be 8 years old. Despite his struggle, he never stopped trying to sit on our laps and ask for pets and food. He never wants to be alone, following us everywhere and whining when we leave the room. He gets along so well with all of the Yorkie friends we have and stays calm without a bark even during the most loud doggie commotions. Since he has only been with us for a couple of days, we are so excited to see how he will come out of his shell and be part of a family again.
