My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Izzy is a 10 months old female who's had a very rough start in life. A young man saved her from a life of neglect, but after suffering financial difficulties he had to find another place for poor Isabella. Izzy was subsequently bounced around through homes giving only minimal care and at some point was attacked or injured in some way that tore the left side of her lip. Izzy was rescued again by a caring family who took her in and made her comfortable. It was apparent to them that Izzy needed medical attention ASAP. A call was made to GEBR and within 4 hours Isabella was an inpatient at Riverside Animal Hospital.
Izzy was very malnourished, full of intestinal parasites, had cherry eye in both eyes and needed evaluation of the mouth injury. She's now in a foster home gaining weight and getting used to being a cherished pet. She has been spayed and had the cherry eyes repaired. An attempt at fixing her lip was unsuccessful. The lip appears to be an old injury and doesn't seem to bother Izzy at all. She loves her people but may be a little too rambunctious for smaller children. Isabella has a sweet temperment and gets along with other dogs. She is being fostered with another female and has a new best friend in her neighborhood, a male boxer mix.
Update: (2/20/10) Izzy is gaining muscle mass and looking much better. As she gains weight her lip deformity isn't as noticeable.
