Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Toby is a 5 year old long hair Chihuahua. He came into rescue after his owner was no longer able to take care of him. He has only ever lived with a single older man and has never lived with children. Toby can be nervous meeting new people so slow introductions are best. Toby is good with dogs of all sizes, however he will try to correct dogs if they are to excited or anxious, so non reactive or passive, well balance/socialized dogs would be the best fit. Toby also shows the potential to want to protect/guard his person so this is something to be aware of and correct so it does not get out of hand. Toby loves cats and kittens. He will play/chase them. Toby was previously never left alone and does have some separation issues. He is not destructive but will cry and whine and bark when left alone, so a home where some one is home more often than not or one with another well balanced dog already in the home to keep him company would be best fit. Toby has been trained to go potty on doggy pee pads, but will follow the other dogs in his foster home outside and has recently asked to go out on his own. He rides great in the car and walks pretty good on a leash Toby is up to date on vaccines, neutered, microchipped, and has completed 4DX testing with all negative results. Toby was severely over weight when he was brought into rescue but has slimmed down quite a bit. He probably has another pound or 2 to be at a nice healthy weight. Toby does have a “floating knee cap) which doesn’t seem to slow him down and is common in little dogs so keeping him at a healthy weight would be helpful maintenance for that as well.
