My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Boone!

*Boone's adoption fee is sponsored in loving memory of Susie.*

Howdy y'all, my name is Boone and they say I'm the most HOUNDsome guy ever! I'm 8 years old and weigh about 65 pounds. The perfect age, and the perfect weight. From being in a shelter, starved before I got there, to this life, boy am I feeling fabulous! I get along with other dogs, but I'd really rather eat alone. After not having food like I should I just worry about others taking my food. I don't need a crate since I'm not destructive when my foster parents are gone. I've lived with respectful children, and we get along splendidly!

I'm believed to be someone's old coon dog who was no longer needed. If that is really my background my foster mom says I have some pretty decent manners. I go outside to do my business all the time, which is incredible since I was likely an outside dog. I'm only vocal when my foster mom comes home because I'm so excited to see her. Oh, and if I see a cat, that gets me baying. I do not like those little critters, they remind me of coons. But, who needs a cat, when you have a cuddly guy like myself? I really enjoy cuddling on the couch watching football and reruns of 60's sitcoms (under the blankets of course. Its cold here in WI in the winter time!). I love bones. Oh! And treats are my favorite! I'm pretty food motivated, and listen to my foster mom pretty well, especially if food is involved. Now I'm just looking for my perfect family who will understand my past, help me understand that I'm worthy of being loved, and show me how a dog should live, spoiled! Are you ready to welcome me into your home?

*Boone is being fostered in the Hebron/Fort Atkinson area.

Disclaimer: It is VERY difficult even for a veterinarian to tell the exact age of a dog over two years old. From one vet to another, we can get different age estimates on the same dog and they can vary by several years. We are only making an educated guess based on a few factors like teeth, fur color, and overall body condition, but for dogs who have not been given adequate vet care and food, it can be even more difficult. Every dog is an individual, and we do our very best to age appropriately but make no guarantees as to the age of any dog in our program.
