Here's what the humans have to say about me:
UPDATE 3/13/24: Riley saw the vet and checked out perfectly.
3/8/24: POOR RILEY HAS COME BACK FOR A SECOND TIME. THIS TIME IT IS BECAUSE SHE NEVER WARMED UP TO THE LADY'S ADULT SON. WE WERE TOLD THAT RILEY DOES BECOME VERY ATTACHED TO HER PERSON AND IS VERY LOYAL AND LOVING. SHE ALSO BECOMES A VELCRO-TYPE DOG AND WANTS TO BE WITH YOU. SHE HAS BEEN AWAY FROM US FOR AWHILE AND JUST RETURNED TODAY SO WE WILL HAVE TO SEE HOW SHE BEHAVES AT OUR HOME SINCE IT CAN OFTEN BE QUITE DIFFERENT FROM WHAT WE ARE TOLD. WE WILL UPDATE AS WE HAVE MORE INFORMATION. RILEY WILL PROB ABLY ALSO NEED TO SEE THE VET SINCE IT HAS BEEN SEVERAL MONTHS SINCE SHE HAS LEFT US AND WE DO LIKE TO MAKE SURE WE HAVE UPDATED INFO ABOUT HEALTH. RILEY IS ON THE HUNT FOR HER FINAL FOREVER FAMILY THOUGH SO IF INTERESTED IN GIVING RILEY A HOME, PLEASE CONTACT US.
7/1/23: RILEY WAS RETURNED TO US BECAUSE SHE STARTED TO GET OUT OF THE YARD AND HER FAMILY STATED THEY DIDNT HAVE TIME FOR HER. She is very sweet and docile and loves to be with her people. She can be described as somewhat of a velcro dog. She gets along with other dogs and gets along with cats. She can jump a 4 ft high fence for sure but only seems to want to get out to go with you. She, so far, has preferred to stay inside rather than be outside for too long. Her adoptive family described her as a cuddler. She does have a loud bark when she barks (sounds like a huge dog) but she isnt a yapper. Her adoptive family stated that she is housebroken and crate trained (and she does appear to be at our house however we never guarantee this). Riley can be a bit skittish of loud noises and unfamiliar things but she does warm up once she feels comfortable and secure. Her adoptive family stated that she likes to chew so she will need durable chew toys. She sometimes is a trash surfer too. We haven't noticed either issue but our trash is not readily available for the dogs to get into and she has an abundance of chew things available, as well as other dogs to play with. She has not exhibited any destructive behavior since arriving at the rescue and is, overall,a really nice dog who would make a great family companion dog! She would definitely do best in a home where someone will be spending a good deal of time with her since she really enjoys being a part of whatever her people are doing. She will be seeing the vet Friday, 7/7/23 for her annual physical and yearly vetting so we will update once we have her results and current (grown) size.
7/9/2022: The pups received their rabies vacc. At 4 months old now, they still only weigh 14.5 pounds (Riley) and 12.9 pounds (Roxy). We think they will actually be smaller dogs (either a larger small or a smaller medium size). Possibly a cur/terrier mix of some kind bit since they were strays, we really have no way to know, without doing a DNA test. If you are looking for a sweet pup who will be on the smaller side, consider Riley or Roxy.
Roxy and Riley were spayed and received their age appropriate vaccinations yesterday. They are ready to find their forever homes and have had a great start with their foster family. They are learning to crate train and go potty outside but will still need continued training as they are still very young pups (only approx 9 weeks of age). They are super friendly and get along with everyone so continued socialization is recommended to ensure they grow up accepting of everyone and everything and are comfortable in any situation. They are typical pups who love to play, chew and get themselves into trouble so please make sure that you are ready and willing to provide training and teach them manners and good behavior. They are still babies and need guidance to help them become the best dogs that they can be. Riley weighed 10.3 pounds and Roxy weighed 9.8 pounds as of 5/31/22 so they will be good sized dogs once fully grown. They did have hookworms so we gave them a drontal but they may need a follow up in 3 weeks. We have also started them on Symparica Trio for heartworm prevention and flea control. They were not found to have any health issues and were spayed , microchipped and age appropriately vaccinated (they will need a series of vaccinations until they are old enough to get their rabies at 4 months of age so please be prepared to provide those). They are too you g right now for a heartworm test but monthly prevention should keep them heartworm free. They are sweet girls and love cuddling and riding in the car with their foster mom. They do not really know much about a leash yet but I'm sure they will learn quickly. If interested in adopting one or both of these girls, please let us know and we will set up a meet and greet with you.
