Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Niner was on the euthanasia list at the Stanislaus county shelter in September 2021. NO Rescue/Adopter came for him, so minutes before he was euthanized, the shelter volunteers pulled him out of the shelter into a boarding facility, thinking that a rescue or adopter would for sure come for him soon! No one came for him.
We (BARK Rescue CA) had just started to actively rescue dogs toward the end of March 2022 when one of the shelter volunteers told us about Niner. We immediately started looking for a foster for him, making him the 2nd dog we tried to save. In May, someone contacted us saying that he could foster Niner for 3-4 weeks to give us more time to find him a more long-term foster. In mid-June we found him a professional dog trainer in Arizona who wanted to foster him until he gets adopted! We organized his transport from the Bay Area in CA to Phoenix, AZ to his long-term foster with a group of AMAZING ladies who all volunteered to transport him because they all advocate for him. This is where Niner is currently, waiting for his forever home!
Niner is a resilient dog. After being in a stressful overcrowded shelter environment for months then in a boarding facility for about 8 months, he is still so full of love and such a happy dog! He deserves to have a loving family who can commit to him until the end of his life.
- Niner is neutered, house-trained, car-trained, and such an angel!
- He is good with kids 10 years old or older- He has spent a night with one of our volunteer transporters and her 10-year-old son and Niner was a perfect gentleman.
- He needs space from other dogs; We found a scar on one of his legs that might've been from a dog bite from a loooong time ago. We suspect he was bitten by another dog at some point in his life, which could explain his anxiety around other dogs.
- Niner loves belly rubs and giving kisses!
We will consider out of state adoption as long as it's still in the West Coast (because we can't afford transport across the country)!
