Age: 5 years
Size: 61 lbs
Estimated breed: Pit bull terrier mix
Tex was picked up as a stray in rural South Carolina after he was found hanging around a property for a few days. He was believed to have been used in a backyard breeding operation, who the breeder dumped when he was no longer financially useful to him anymore. He came into the shelter missing large portions of fur on his tail and back end and covered in scabs. He was also heartworm positive, which is a totally preventable but deadly disease if left untreated. He received treatment for his skin and for heartworms and is now ready to finally find a forever home with a family who will love him and treat him like a member of the family.
Tex is estimated to be around 5 years old and currently weighs 61 lbs, though he could stand to gain a few pounds. He is a gentle and quiet boy who enjoys leisurely walks and taking in all his surroundings. He tested nicely with other dogs at the shelter and currently shares his foster home with another large dog and two small children. He sleeps quietly through the night in his crate and is doing well with house training so far. We have not seen him around cats. Tex is a special boy who deserves the absolute best forever home after everything he has been through.
