My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We are looking for a rescue who has experience with dogs with behavior problems to take Parker...as an animal control, we simply do not have the resources to provide him the help he needs.
........
My name is Parker, and I hope someone will want me.

I was abandoned back in Dec. of 2021. It was so confusing to me...why did they leave me? Ever since, I've hated being in this pen. It has been months and months. Unfortunately, I tend to bark and act out when I'm in the pen...I am trying to express how frustrated I am, but it gives people the wrong idea.

Once I'm out of the pen, I calm down and can be loving. I need structure, understanding, and patience. With some experienced help, I will learn to trust again. The lady in the photo with me only met me a few minutes before, and I settled right down and enjoyed her attention. Another time, a family with children came, and I absolutely loved them and acted perfect with them.

On the other hand, a different lady was looking to adopt me, and she gave me too much eye contact and too much "attention" right in my face, which made me feel uncomfortable, and I snapped at her (no contact, but I was letting her know she was making me feel uncomfortable.) I also seem to be leery of men more than women. However, one male volunteer walks me and I have learned to trust him.

The other difficulty I have is that I will NOT get in a car. They will try and work with me here at the shelter and help me overcome this...but I must have had a bad experience in the past, so it will take some time.
I'm one smart dog ---and us super smart dogs sometimes need a little extra TLC.
.........
Please...if you are a rescue who would like to help Parker learn to control his insecurities, we will do what we can to get him to you!
