My story

My name is Zeus. I came here in March of 2022, and I hope you will want to come meet me.

I'm a laid-back, VERY handsome, big, black German Shepherd. Although I don't have AKC papers, there is no doubt I'm a purebred. I'm a little leery of other dogs, but won't pull to go after them. I just need time to slowly get to know them...otherwise when they get in my personal space I growl. BUT, cats are a no-no. (Like many shepherds, I have too much prey drive and like to chase them). The folks around here call me their "big teddy bear". That's probably because of my thick fluffy coat...and because I love to be loved on...and if allowed, will be a couch potato. Because of my size, my ideal home is one with older kids or adults who will take me on walks, teach me tricks, and brush my beautiful fur. Like a typical German Shepherd, I will be a loyal companion.

I recently was at a pet show/adoption event and did good. There were many other dogs and people there. I got along with all the people, and was very calm there. I just laid next to my handler and relaxed.

One kind of sad thing is that I am have heartworms, because my previous owner didn't give me monthly preventative. But, don't let that worry you! I've started slow-method treatments that can continue at home with just a monthly dose of medicine.
