Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Poor Henry! He was a stray picked up and put into a foster home in November of 2004 by a rescue group in Illinois. He didn't show well at their Adoption Days, so no one wanted Henry. So, here we are, trying to give Henry a better chance at a new life. He is not quite 2 years old, a Beagle mix, weighing in at about 40#.
Henry is a self-assured, assertive dog who needs an intelligent owner. He is very smart. He walks good on a leash and knows how to sit on command. He isn't food motivated, so training him is proving to be a challenge, but it'll happen.
He would be a great jogging partner--he loves to RUN! He also enjoys lots of different toys. He needs mental stimulation due to his intelligence.
Henry has lived with other dogs, but he must definitely be the dominant dog. He is very interested in cats, so we don't really suggest that. We also don't suggest a home with small children, due to Henry's intensity. He has been around older children and is fine.
Please open your heart to give Henry a chance at a new life. He's been waiting a long time for that human-canine bond!
This dog's adoption fee is $265 (plus tax). This includes being neutered, current on Rabies, Distemper, and Bordetella vaccinations, wormed, microchipped with the HomeAgain microchip, heartworm tested (negative) and medicated during the heartworm season (May-Dec) while in our care, comes with a Gentle Leader headcollar (if we feel it is needed), and is currently learning Basic Obedience commands and good doggie manners.
The first step in our adoption process is to fill out an application. If you'd like to have an application emailed to you, just let us know. If you have questions about the dog, please call C.A.R.E.S. after 6:00 p.m. or email us. Sorry, but C.A.R.E.S. will NOT return long distance phone calls--our money is better spent on dog food............Thank you!
