My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Astro is a great example of why people love both the Cavalier and Pomeranian breeds. Both are small, very affectionate and fun / playful cuddle bugs. Both are also known to have a very sensitive side that doesn’t respond well to punishment or harshness of any kind.Their greatest joy is being around their humans and family..and are well known to be excellent with older children (they don't respond well to tail pulling or awkward handling).

At just about 2+ years old (such a great age..young enough to have many, many active and healthy years ahead yet old enough to be beyond babyish behaviors) and at just about 16 lbs, Astro is a great smaller size to accompany his family everywhere a wonderful dog is welcome. Astro, once comfortable in his surroundings (can be initially shy but warms up with just a bit of time), is very sweet (wagging tail like a helicopter!) and curious to learn about the world. He is a loyal and loving guy who bonds hard and falls in love easily with those that are kind and loving.

Astro has a spirit about him that caught the attention of a compassionate rescuer. She saved him from euthanasia at a scary Texas shelter due to lack of space, and fell in love with his sweetness and kind nature. She knew that Astro would be a natural companion for a Colorado family. His joy at spending time with his rescuer is a joy to watch. He's filled with nothing but good-will and shares it with those he loves 100%.

Farfel's Rescue feels that Astro would be a wonderful best friend for active dog-crazy retirees or a younger family that enjoys including a fuzzy guy in their activities. Astro would be overjoyed with the time spent and togetherness... becoming a loyal best friend and a very important member of the family. Astro will also thrive with a family with dog-loving older kids only who enjoy fun activities with their pup. They would be able to participate in positive reinforcement group training classes to teach Astro the skills to be able to accompany his family out in the community with excellent behavior. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of approved positive reinforcement/force free trainers in your area.

Astro can be relied on, once confident in his surroundings, to share his love and best behavior with his humans. He is a devoted best friend who wants nothing more than to share time, play and learning new skills with a kind and committed family. We feel that a full-time workday for his family won't work for Astro. He thrives on family-time and being at at home while his people work full-time outside of the house isn't in the best interest of this devoted companion..

Astro will be very in-sync with a family that includes him in dog-friendly adventures.. backyard fun, exploring the Colorado mountains or window shopping on Pearl Street to learn urban skills are great days for Astro. A walk around the neighborhood socializing with neighbors would also be an excellent way for this very people-friendly pup to fine-tune his social as well as leash skills.

Astro has the stunning golden coat that speaks of his Pomeranian genetics. He will require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are recommended for general longevity and coat care). With this regimen, Astro's coat will always be cottony-soft, shining and gorgeous with good health.

Astro is up to date on his vetting, but has yet to be neutered. We're hoping that he'll be fixed when he arrives from Texas however rescue dogs often fall through the cracks in this impoverished area with too many dogs and not enough vets to neuter/spay them. If this is the case, Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Astro to be neutered and microchipped at one of our rescue vets to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

Astro will be arriving on transport on Saturday 5/28/2022. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet, silly and absolutely wonderful best friend. Adoption apps can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Astro please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
