Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Sawyer! Sawyer is the perfect little girl for a lucky family willing to help her succeed. She's a fun-loving ball of energy that needs all the things that puppies need: training, discipline, consistency and most of all patience!
Sawyer is currently in foster care. She resides with two other dogs and is learning how to be a proper pup. Her foster mom works with her daily on walking on a leash, potty training and learning to sit and wait for meals. Sawyer is an excellent student, and we hope that whoever adopts her can continue her education and training.
Sawyer loves attention and is extremely loyal, loving and cuddly. She also can be a bit stubborn and headstrong. She will need a strong leader to help her know her place in the pack. At this age, she can be molded and shaped to being a great canine citizen and Sawyer is a great listener! We feel Sawyer would do best with dogs 50 lbs. or greater and a canine companion that doesn't mind playing second fiddle would be best.
The reason Sawyer came to us is a sad story but has a happy ending. You see, Sawyer's life didn't start out so well as she was found abandoned in a dumpster and rescued by a Good Samaritan. When we later pulled her from the shelter, she had been suffering from a condition called "puppy strangles" which is an uncommon skin condition of young dogs. Basically, her immune system was attacking her own skin resulting in heavy scabbing and swelling on her face and muzzle. Luckily, the treatment for "puppy strangles" is quite simple and Sawyer is now back to being just a cute puppy.
If you would like to be considered as Sawyer's new family, please fill out an adoption application on our website. Her adoption fee is only $200, which includes her spay, all her puppy vaccinations, and deworming. Medical records will be included to pass on to your family veterinarian. We will also consider a foster-to-adopt situation.
