Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi. I’m Star. I’m a beautiful Lab mix. . I have had all my vaccines, a Proheart 12, and monthly Nexgard. I sure would love for you to adopt me forever. I can’t talk to explain why someone drove a vehicle to a rural MS wooded area inhabited by coyotes. The coyotes were howling, and I was terrified. I was on Facebook, but NOBODY would save me. People wrote, “we are full”, there’s no shelter where I was dumped. The reasons for leaving me there to die made me cry. Then Linda said she would take me, but couldn’t drive a distance because of a neurological illness. Another person, Angela, said she would get me and bring me to Bartlett the following day. I went to Hillcrest to receive veterinarian care. I was in a kennel and happy to be safe and fed. An employee adopted me. However she dropped me off at Hillcrest without getting permission for me. Employee said she was “moving”. Then a young couple asked to “foster” me. They met with me several times. Linda provided a new crate, bed, toys, and a big bag of food instead of getting to stay with the couple, I was taken to his mom’s apartment while she was sick in bed with COVID! They didn’t say I was with a mother who had 2 dogs. The mother’s landlord gave her a written notice of eviction for violating the lease which only allowed 2 dogs. The mother contacted my rescuer, Linda, stating I had to leave immediately. A kind 84 year old lady who already has 2 dogs agreed to help me. By then, I was fearful. The lady set my crate up and I had a cozy area. One of her dogs is really fun for play. The older dog acts afraid of me, but all I want is to play. My foster mother loves me. However, I am a 1 year old, and she’s 84. She feels I would be best with someone a bit younger. Is that you? One last thing, I have been treated for heartworms. I had the protocol recommended by AHA, which is a month of Doxycycline, then an Immiticide injection, rest for a month, then go to veterinarian for an Immiticide shot, spend the night, and get another Immiticide shot the following morning. I had my last injection July 20, 2022. My treatment is finished! I will rest for 30 days. Then I can resume living like a Lab. For those unfamiliar with heartworms, this protocol is 99.9% successful. Out of state adopters are welcome. If the distance is within reason, I probably can get a ride. My driver will need gas money.
IMPORTANT: It often takes time for me to see responses to this app or email. Feel free to apply that way if you wish. However, I see text messages immediately. I might be caring for the dogs or be at a DR appointment, but I will respond quickly. If you call, I am often busy with the dogs, cleaning, errands, and appointments. So you possibly will need to leave a voicemail. Please contact me however is convenient for you.
