My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet BRIGHTon: Your Smart and Snuggly Sidekick!

BRIGHTon is no ordinary pup; he`s a clever canine companion who thrives on three simple pleasures: invigorating walks, engaging games, and the cherished PM cuddle time. His favorite? Morning walks that set the tone for an exciting day ahead, filled with leisurely sniffing games and enthusiastic rounds of fetch.

This heeler mix is the complete package – house trained, crate trained, a fantastic travel companion in the car, and always up for accompanying you to your favorite coffee shops or breweries. After spending several months in foster care, BRIGHTon seamlessly adjusted to home life, proving that he`s more than ready for his forever family.

Having come a long way on his journey, BRIGHTon now seeks someone patient and caring. No longer a teenage pup, he prefers routines and can be classified as a medium-energy dog, striking a perfect balance between play and rest. BRIGHTon envisions himself as the solo star of the household, reserving his cuddles exclusively for his forever family. He thrives in a predictable environment.
BRIGHTon is on the lookout for a family that can keep his beautiful brain engaged and his graceful body in motion. In return, you`ll gain the most loyal and loving dog friend imaginable. As a special bonus, BRIGHTon comes with Friends of AAC`s training vouchers and the unwavering support of his shelter besties, the Orange Dot Crew.

Are you ready to embark on a lifetime of adventures with BRIGHTon? Secure your place in his heart by reaching out today! Your future best friend is waiting, eager to bring joy, love, and a touch of brilliance to your life!

Additional adoption info

Our shelter has more than 500 available cats and dogs every day!
For pets at the shelter: Adoptions must be completed in-person at the shelter. AAC is open for adoption walk-ins every day from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m. A shelter pet’s availability can change at any time, so we recommend choosing a few favorites.
For pets in foster: Go to www.AustinAnimalCenter.org to find the pet's profile and click that pet's pink “Adopt Me” button. This will prompt you to complete an adoption questionnaire. Submitting an application does not hold the animal for you.
We have dozens of animals that won't be listed online yet because they're still in their stray hold period, but can be pre-adopted at the shelter in case their owner doesn't come for them.

Adoption Fees:
$80 cats & kittens up to 6 years old
$80 dogs 6 months to 6 years, 30 lbs and up
$100 dogs under 30 lbs and/or under 6 months
$30 small animals
No fee for senior pets 7 years and older

More about this shelter

Austin Animal Center is the largest open-intake animal shelter in central Texas and we work very hard to try to save 90% or more of the thousands of animals we shelter every year. We always need volunteers and both monetary and in-kind donations to help us in our sheltering and prevention activities. Visit our website to find out how you can help!
