My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Say hello to sweet River!

River was found by a Good Samaritan on 5/18/2022 by the river bridges off Democrat Rd. in Eastern Brazos County. No tags or collar. NO MICROCHIP. Most likely dumped.

River is an intact male mixed breed dog. He's likely a pitbull shepherd cross and he has the most adorable ears!

His medical history is unknown and the temporary home he is in has not updated his vaccines or had him heartworm tested. They are only allowed to hang on to him for a few more days so it is very important that he finds a loving home soon!

He is a young dog. His foster believes he's about a year old. His teeth are very clean and still small. He’s housebroken and crate trained. He’s really only left in the kennel when his temporary fosters are not at home and he does really well!

The temporary foster has another male dog in the home and they both get along great. He always tries to sniff the cat in the home, but they haven't officially spent time together since the cat is very timid and hides from him.

River has not been around young children, but he does well with adults and older kids. We believe that River would do best in a home that has older children that can interact with him.

More about this rescue

We started this organization to fill a need. Animals are being euthanized in astonishing numbers across the country simply due to overcrowding of shelters. It's heartbreaking! Our main focus is to pull these animals out of these high-kill facilities and place them in loving forever homes. We have several local fosters that are willing to provide temporary TLC for these pets while they are waiting for their "forever humans" to come along! We are also passionate about community education in areas of need. The pet overpopulation problem rests solely on the shoulders of humans and that is why more focus needs to be placed on educating people and making them more aware of the issue. We want to give as many animals as possible the chance they deserve, so that is why we founded Happy Landings Animal Rescue.
