Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi folks, my name's Avo and I'm the kind of dog who loves the world and everyone in it. Wouldn't you like to have that kind of positive energy in your life?
Read on to learn more about me and then just click on that little 'adopt' link at the bottom.
My Physical info:
breed: jindo mix (I have longer legs and shorter fur than most)
gender: male
age: two years
height: 60cm (24 inches)
weight: 25kg (55lb)
My Rescue Story:
Back in February of 2021 I was roaming around a rural area outside Seoul and someone called the animal control people. They came to pick me up and took me to the city pound. I'm fortunate to have recently been taken in by the good people of Welcome Dog Korea who are working with Loved At Last to find me a home in Canada. If I stay in S.Korea there is little hope that I would be adopted as jindo mix dogs like me have the stigma of being associated with the dog meat trade.
My Temperament:
I'm a happy, sociable character who thinks everyone is my friend. I just love being around people and will flop on my back and present my belly to just about anybody: after all, who doesn't love a furry belly? The man in the video is a complete stranger to me, but I figured he'd quickly become my friend if I let him pet my belly. Sure enough, it seemed to work!
My confident, outgoing nature extends to other dogs too and I love to wrestle with those who are responsive. I confess to being a bit confused by Cranky Little Dog's negative reaction to my friendly overtures and it took me a while to understand that she really didn't want to play. (Maybe I need a little help picking up on those "I'm not interested" signals.)
My energy is on the higher side so I'd thrive in an active home. I'd love to have a yard where I could run around and play a bit, but at the very least I'd need to be with someone who enjoys getting outside for some exercise every day. An energetic family would be a great fit for me.
I get along with:
dogs: Yes. If you have another confident, playful dog in the home, we could have a blast. Or if you have friends with dogs that would be cool too.
cats: probably not a good idea. I have chased cats that I've met outside.
kids: yes, as long as they are big enough to handle my bouncy nature.
Health Notes:
I am neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and have no health concerns.
My adoption fee:
* Avo's adoption fee is $750 + tax.
* Avo will arrive in Toronto in early June if he finds a foster home and we will find a volunteer who can drive or escort him to Ottawa.
