My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Charlton, the most handsome new noodle on the block! Sleek and slim, he's as sweet as he is friendly, and is enjoying his newfound freedom. In his previous life, he was crated for more than 12 hours a day. His family knew they weren't able to provide the type of life a dog needs and did the right thing in giving him up to DREAM for a new chance at life.
Charlton is having the time of his life at his foster home. He's playing and exploring and making besties with his new doggie friends. Being out and about with people and other dogs is heaven to him, and you can see him smiling with glee. He zips and races around the yard, bouncing with happiness. Charlton is energetic and fun-loving. He's great with other doggos and even kids who know how to treat a longboi with respect. Charlton is NOT a good fit for homes with cats.

If you are interested in adopting Charlton, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to our online adoption application. Charlton's adoption fee is $600. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Charlton will go to his new home microchipped, neutered, heartworm tested, up to date on vaccinations, and with all other medical needs addressed. Almost every dog's veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.

**Charlton is a Legacy Dog. Legacy Dogs are highly adaptable dogs that can assist other dogs in our rescue with their vetting bills. Legacy dogs have a much higher desirability quotient. They're young, healthy and usually purebreds. These dogs leave a financial legacy for those animals who need extra help – whether they need extensive medical care or just a little more time to find a loving home.

DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group. We focus on the metro Atlanta area and can assist throughout the state of Georgia. Since our rescue is entirely run and staffed by volunteers, our ability to travel long distances for adoptions is somewhat limited. We focus on Georgia, but if you’re in a neighboring state, we might be able to work something out - we’ll expect you to do your part. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
