My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Look at this beautiful girl! Those eyes -- oh my goodness. And Dana is just as sweet as she is gorgeous and get this: She's dog and people friendly and lives with cats! Snatch this girl up quickly.

Dana weighs about 50 pounds and is about one year old. Her foster family tells us she loves people, dogs, treats, cuddling, and playing! Dana has warmed up quickly since she started living with her foster family. She was shy, timid around cars, tile floors, and leashes, but no longer! She's been a fast learner and has adapted to living in a house right off the bat. She has never had an accident and never needed leash training – she enjoys her walks, she's good on a leash, and has very good manners. She is also super gentle in every way – she takes her treats gently, plays gently, and even likes to give kisses. She loves to lay on the couch with her people, and though she would love to sleep in the human bed at night, she is perfectly happy sleeping right under it instead.

Dana is at a great age where she is a mix of calm and playful. She loves to sleep all day next to her work-from-home foster mom. She still has some puppy energy and enjoys playtime and zoomies. If she ever accidentally chews on non-toys, she is very responsive to redirection and seems to remember what she is not supposed to chew. She really loves filled bones, her leather dinosaur toy, and her fluffy squeaky donut toy.

She lives with three other cats in her foster home. She has no aggression towards them, and will ignore them if they ignore her. However, she sometimes thinks they want to play with her, and if they run, she thinks they want to be chased. We keep them separated throughout the day while we continue to train her to ignore the cats.

Dana is not fearful of her crate, but she does have some containment anxiety which she is working on. Initially, she would do well with someone who works from home, or who can keep her in a dog-friendly room while away. Dana does well if left in the home unconfined.

We think she would do best in a home with a yard, with human family members 13+. Dana would also love to have a companion home with her during the day so she does not get lonely (either someone who works from home or another dog). Dana could go to a home with cats, but still needs supervision until she masters her cat-manners. Dana is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and housebroken.
