Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Francis required a lot of care and vet treatment. Her bills are still being paid for and we need donations to help cover her and the other dog's medical costs. Please consider making a donation to the rescue or contact Dr. Mark Ratliff's office at 606-673-1144 and make a donation to the rescue's account.
Yes, we have not made a mistake and you eyes are not fooling you. We do have a westie mix in the German Shepherd Rescue. Here is the story of how she came to us....
I was on the way home from work one day and saw a young girl next to the road looking around as if to say, "someone help!" So knowing that there must be an animal hurt I reluctantly turned around and pulled in behind her. When I approached she told me that she had seen a little dog hit by a car, "and they never even slowed down or swirved!" (sadly no big surprise to me though) Her husband was down a 10ft embankment with the dog which had drug herself into a creek. He had attempted to pick her up, but she had bitten him on the hand due to the pain she surely was in. I took my belt off and muzzled her and we then placed her on a towel and made a sling and they brought her to the closest vet. I had given them my card to give to the vet and he later called to tell me the little girl now named "Francis" after "Saint Francis" that must have been looking out for her.... He told me that she had a broken pelvis and will need a minimum of 6 weeks of limited activity and lots of rest. We brought her home and she is a real sweety!!! She can walk a little and is eating some and drinking. We did have to cut off most of her hair from her neck back, due to SEVERE matting. It isn 't a pretty cut (what can you expect, we deal with GSD's!) It is cool and functional though and her hair will grow out nice and pretty. She may have arthritis later on in her life, but she will fully recover and make a WONDERFUL PET. If you are intersted in her just drop us an email and fill out an application. Francis is about 20 lbs or less. She is fine with other dogs as long as food is not around. She is also OK with cats. Adoption fee: 75.00
