My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update - 1/9: - Cobra has completed his heartworm treatment, and has been neutered. He is now available for adoption and ready to find his forever home!

Update - 12/7: - Cobra is currently halfway through his HW treatment, and is doing very well. He will be neutered in a couple of weeks, and will then be eligible for adoption. He will need a special home, that is willing to give him the time and attention he needs to settle into his new enviroment. When he moved from one foster home to another with us, he became very nervous and agitated and took a few days to settle down. We expect this to be the case when he goes to his forever home as well.

This handsome young man is Cobra. He has been with us for several weeks, but is just now beginning to look well enough to be listed here.

Cobra was removed from a very bad situation where his needs were being severly neglected. He had not seen a vet, and was not receiving proper care. But a very nice lady took him in to help him, and she sent him to us so his medical needs could be met.

Cobra was completely emaciated, to the point that he had no muscle tone at all. He was around 40 pounds underweight. He also had sarcoptic mange along with secondary skin infections, and he suffers from heartworm disease. Initially, he was in so mch pain from the skin problems that he would cry when you petted him. But he was so desperate for human interaction that he didn't care if it hurt. He just wanted to be loved.

Cobra is doing much better now. He has gained some weight (still needs to gain much more), and his skin is clearing up nicely. He now has lots of energy, and is developing some muscle tone. He loves to run and play, but mostly he just loves to be petted and loved. His recovery is far from complete, but he is now well on his way to being a happy, healthy boy.

Cobra is utd on routine vaccinations, and flea/tick prevention. He gets along great with other dogs, and absolutely loves people of all ages and sizes. He is a little hesitant with men, but once he knows your intentions are good you've got a friend for life. He has not been tested with cats, since there aren't any in his foster home

Please Click Here to fill out an application. This is the first step in our adoption process. No adoption will be considered or discussed until this has been completed and received.

Cobra must go to an indoor home where he will be an important part of the family. We do not adopt to anyone under the age of 21. Our adoption fee is $250.

Note: Mid-South Shepherd Rescue is a no-kill, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. We do not have a shelter location. Our dogs are kept in foster homes as part of a family, to help prepare them for transition into their forever homes. If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, please contact us by clicking on the email address to your right. We will be glad to make arrangements for a meeting.
