My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

This scruffy little mop of a dog is Joplin (as in Janice Joplin!)  We are not quite sure of her breed mix - her paperwork says Shih Tzu but we think that may not be what she is.  She looks like she has some terrier or Chinese Crested Powder Puff in there too!  She is about 1 year old and weighs 15 pounds.  She is a long and leggy Texas belle!  Joplin tested positive for heartworm but has been successfully treated.  She will need to remain on heartworm preventative year-round for the rest of her life.

Joplin is a very active and fun loving dog!  We have discovered she is nervous in new situations and will need some adjustment time in a new home. She loves to be outside and rain or shine will run run run!  She is a wiggly butt that can barely sit still!   Her happy go lucky demeanor makes her everybody's friend.  Joplin is very very loving and wants attention and love from her foster mom!  She is always wagging her tail and trying to get into her lap.  Joplin is still young and needs to learn some basic commands and skills. She does know her name and we are working on sit but it turns into some upside down belly rubbing positions lol.   She hasn't mastered the leash yet so at this point, unless she is with her mom, Judy.  We prefer she has a fully fenced yard in her new home (no invisible fences).  She is considered a flight risk and will run if scared.   Joplin is doing well with her housetraining with very few accidents in her foster home. She will likely need some adjustment time in her new home so please expect some accidents as she learns a new home and routine.  Joplin is crate trained.  She is ok with cats just curious.  Although she has not been around young kids while in foster care, we don't think there will be an issue other than her jumping.  She can be 'mouthy" and nibble at her foster mom's fingers.  Never aggressive just trying to get attention.  She will also pull at her clothes in a fun way. We would like another playful dog for Joplin to romp around with her in her new home too but it is not required if her new family is active and playful with her.  She is still a puppy with lots of puppy antics and energy to give her new family!

Joplin is spayed, up to date with vaccines, microchipped, flea/worm treated.  Her adoption fee is $450.  Her adoption fee will be reduced to $400 if adopted with her mom, Judy.
