Here's what the humans have to say about me:
It’s been quite the journey. After getting blasted by a car, dislocating a hip, and enduring a severe infection, I’m still alive and kickin’!
Hi, my name is Winnie. And I am INVINCIBLE! Well… sort of.
I guess it all started back in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. There was a shelter kind enough to take me in after the car accident; I don’t remember my life before bouncing off that Honda Civic.
The loving shelter staff attempted to fix my hip. Unfortunately for them and me, that thing kept poppin’ back out. I barked a few thank you’s for their efforts. I thanked them for treating my road rash as well. My tummy hurt something fierce, but I just figured it was from the accident.
Two nice ladies came to pick me up from the shelter to take me for a ride. That’s when I met my foster mom, Christina. She took me straight to a specialty veterinary hospital.
Christina asked the very talented surgeon to reattach my hip for good. The operation was a success, and I was finally back on all fours!
While I recovered from the hip surgery, Christina talked to another surgeon about getting me spayed. I eavesdropped and learned I had been used as a “breeding dog.” Well, I guess that explains my jacked-up nips. But I’m body positive! I hope my kids are doing alright out there. Shout out to my pups if you read this.
Before I went in for my spay, my tummy pain was horrible. When I came back to, that pain was gone! I eavesdropped on Christina and the surgeon again: I had a severe infection in my uterus! They found it just in time, thank God. All dogs go to Heaven, but Heaven must wait for me!
Unless… Heaven can be found on Earth? Is it too good to be true that some kind soul would take me in?
I had too many close calls with the reaper, so I began thinking about what I really needed in my life.
I realized that I wanted a forever home. I wanted to be loved.
I’m going to try my best to be a good, loving dog for a loving owner or family. I’ve been happy and playful, despite my painful past. I’ve always loved attention and gave affection to people.
Now, I’m from the school of hard knocks (literally). Even though I don’t remember too much of my life before, I’ve still retained some of my street instincts. I’m possessive over my food and toys. Hey, I’ve earned it. I got hit by a car, give me a break! Considering that, I should be an only-dog. I just need some space and a loving forever-home.
I’ll shoot you straight: I’m not like the other dogs. I’m a bona fide mutt who’s come out of a rut and wants a new chance at life. Not as a “breeder” or “that poor dog that bounced off a car going fifty miles per hour with jacked-up nips,” but as a loving family member, and cherished pet.
I’m still young and pretty at five years old and forty-one pounds! I’ve been told by my colleagues that I’m a beagle mix, since I’m a bit on the tall side, with a nineteen-inch shoulder height.
Christina allowed me to look over my chart: I’m up to date on my shots, crate trained, house trained, microchipped, heartworm negative, on a heartworm preventative, and spayed!
This Kentucky beaut has a clean bill of health!
I’m currently in Columbia City, but free transport can be arranged to most states!
Please private message my foster mom Christina, as comments get lost with sharing!
And as a sidenote, please check with family members before asking about me. I might not be the right dog for everyone, but I know there’s a right person for me.
As much as I love Christina and the friends I’ve made here, I would also love a forever-home.
Home.
Do you know what that’s worth?
Maybe for Winnie, Heaven can be a place on Earth?
