Hi my name is Grimm, Aka Gremlin if you are into short men with a big personalities that snores and farts a lot I am the man you have been waiting for. People have this theory that English bulldogs are calm and lazy, I am here to prove them wrong. I am a active boy that needs exercise and enrichment to keep me entertained and out of trouble. I am a fun loving boy with a few quirks. My quirks have led to aggressive behaviors at times and my owners didn't know how to correct them. So here I am looking for a new home. After spending some time at the animal control they noticed my behaviors where not always safe so they opted to send me to rescue where I would get some much needed training. In my foster home I have been learning manners and working on my quirks and OCD behaviors. I love toy balls, sometimes a little to much, I get very worked up over my toys at times, and my previous family said "if he loses a ball under a piece of furniture he will get it, what ever it takes. including eating thru said piece of furniture". I have lots of dogs to play with here, well some will play with me, others asked to be left alone and I respect them. There are also cats and horses here but those things are boring. I am ready for a new family that can handle a quirky bulldog that sometimes gets too excited and has to be told to settle down.
House Manners: Grimm has good house manners, we are working on several things with him. But he has not had any potty accidents in the house and has access to a doggie door at his foster. He is also crate trained in a 32 inch crate.
Basic Training: Grimm knows Sit, Down, Shake, Off, Away, Leave it, Settle, Kennel and he is leash trained. Grimm's trainer live North Edmond and if adopted local the trainer will assist the new adopter. Adoption fee includes one reduced fee in home dog training session if within the trainers service area.
Other Dogs: Grimm really needs a friend that likes to wrestle and play in short burst. This will help him drain his energy and keep him away from quirky behaviors.
Cats: there are 4 cats in Grimm's foster home and he ignores them and is nice to them.
Kids: Due to Grimm's intensity around some triggers with toys and loud noises it is best with no kids or teenager.
Fencing: Despite being a short man he can jump over the 32inch doggie gate when he choses. But he respects it unless there is something excitable going on. He has pushed out under a chain-link fence because he seen a ball he wanted on the other side. Aside from the one issue he has respected the 5 ft chain-link fence.
General Grim notes from his trainer: Grimm is a sweet boy that can play with a soft mouth. Grimms known triggers are loud voices, especially sudden ones. Also, Grimm gets very intense with his play and sometimes has to be made to stop and go settle down. When Grimm is triggered he will bark, jump and lunge at a person. With his training this behavior has diminished to about 15% verses his easy to trigger 50% of the time. Grimm now generally responds to a verbal correction if he alerts. This is a serious issue and will take management and continued training and guidance to eliminate and manage his current triggers. Grimm is ready to acclimate to a new home in the proper environment and the adopters will need some guidance with his current and continued training needs.
The adoption fee is $300.This dog has had its age-appropriate Vaccinations brought up to date with Rabies shot (4 m & older), heartworm tested (4 m & older) and/or started on prevention, basic de-wormer, spayed or neutered and microchipped with free registration.
Important PLEASE read if interested in adoption:
We have a pretty open adoption policy, apartments, unfenced yards, and young kids are okay, but only if the pet you are interested in is a good fit for that situation!!! Some dogs may require a fence of a certain type and height, due to safety, the breed or known history. We are looking for pet parents that provide vet care such as routine vaccines for their pets and heartworm prevention for dogs. Please understand we do cross check vet references and landowners/landlord policies and cannot process applications with incomplete or incorrect information.
We asked that you take your newly adopted dog for a vet exam in the first 30 days to establish with your vet and obtain their heartworm prevention prescriptions and have a fecal exam administered as some pets may need additional de-womer after leaving our care.
