My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

** If you are interested in Austin, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ WE DO NOT ACCEPT INQUIRIES**

This guy is in need of some good lovin'! The shelter is no place for a sweet pup like Austin to be with the cold floors and fluorescent lights. They deserve to be in a home where they can get individualized attention, and lots of love!

Below is a note from his foster:
"I was expecting Austin to be a scared boy based on his shelter notes, but he opened up almost immediately once I got him home, and was playing fetch and demanding pets the night I got him! He's doing perfectly with my dogs and with potty training, and is just a happy sweet puppy. He's such a smart boy and has made so much progress - the only sign I see of his tough past is that he still sometimes cowers behind me on walks when a big car passes, a stranger approaches, or a strange dog barks at us. Even those things, he's quickly getting more confident about with a little reassurance! Once he re-grows a little more fur he's going to be the perfect pup!"

Austin is a 6 month old, currently 28 lb (He needs to gain some pounds and he's estimated to be 50-60lbs full grown) German Shepherd/Lab mix..or a Sheprador that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life.

Both German Shepherd and Labrador Retrievers have grown in popularity over the past few years...so much so that it has created a new breed called a Sheprador. The German Sheprador is also called the Labrashepherd. Despite their new unfortunate status as a designer breed, you may find these mixed breed dogs in shelters and rescues, so remember to adopt! Don’t shop!

We would love to see Austin in a home that includes him in family time and activities...he’s appropriately playful and fun-loving and would thrive in a family that truly loves him and considers him a very important family member. He will be a wonderful companion for active, fun-loving individual or family who have the time and energy to give a dog the proper exercise and stimulation that she needs! He would also fit in well with a family that works from a home-based office and loves to have a best companion to love up throughout the day. We feel that Austin is too social a guy to be left alone for the long hours of full-time employment outside of the home. He doesn't require another dog to be happy if his people are very present and involved...but does enjoy his canine relationships with playful dogs.

Austin has dermatitis which makes them lose their hair. He will therefore require some baths with a medicated shampoo and excellent nutrition (5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement are great choices for coat care and general longevity). Through this regimen, his hair will grow back to be beautiful and super-healthy!

Austin is up to date on his shots, but has yet to be neutered. We cover the cost of neuter at our approved Vet Clinic. This supports our work and hopes that one day dog overpopulation will become a thing of the past and therefore it will be unnecessary to euthanize a healthy dog.

Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit.

**PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder, Rescueme and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving puppy. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.
