Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rescue Story:
Gomsil and her Sister were abandoned and left alone in front of a community center in South Korea. They were too afraid that they hid in a storm sewer( like a pipe). It was cold and dark like a maze. Gomsil and her Sister held tight together and waited for their family to come. Unfortunately, their family did not show up but luckily they were found by rescuers and brought to the shelter when they were only 3 months old.
My Temperament:
Gomsil is described as gentle, calm and a bit timid when she is introduced to strangers. She will happily accept all of the snuggles she can get from her trusted people!
With strangers, she was a bit timid, but she took treats from them. She allows strangers to pet her once she feels comfortable. Although Gomsil’s confidence is still growing, she is still insecure and it may take some time for her personality to really shine in her new home. Gomsil is just afraid of “NEW” things, such as New environments, New people, New sounds, etc…
Gomsil is looking for a family who can slowly introduce new things to Gomsil and overcome her fear together.
Get along with:
Dogs: With other dogs, she is comfortable sharing spaces, and treats and shows interest in any other dogs(small or big dogs). Gomsil is currently staying with 4-5 other dogs in foster and had no conflict or accidents so far. She is very friendly and wants to say Hi to every dog she meets. If the dogs show no interest and are not comfortable introducing themselves, Gomsil slowly backs off and loses interest.
Cats: Gomsil was not interested in cats. Less likely to chase or attack a small animals.
Kids: Gomsil has not met a kid under 13 years old. When Gomsil met a kid(who looked older than 13 years old) during a walk, she was not interested. She allowed the kids to pet her but was a bit shy.
During Walks:
She has a moderate energy level. After the walk, she tends to stay chill and calm in the house.
During the first few walks with her foster mom, Gomsil pulled. However, she follows the handler pretty well and after a few regular walks with her foster mom, she does not pull or get too excited when walking anymore.
She tends to bolt out of a fear when there is a loud noise or sudden movement during the walk. If the handler calms her down and slowly pet her ,she settles and gets comfortable. Be extra careful for the first couple of walks with Gomsil. She does not appreciate loud noises and is afraid of new environments.
Training:
Gomsil is currently working on the house training. She is more used to indoor potting than outdoor. She tends to go for a potty where she feels comfortable. Mostly in foster homes, it's the corner of the house and the same spot every day. Foster mom thinks that if she gains confidence and gets used to the outdoor environment, Gomsil will likely be potty outdoors only. Gomsil’s lack of confidence, social interaction, and experience with the new environment, caused Gomsil to potty indoors. If she sets a regular walking routine and gets comfortable with outdoor activities, it will solve the issues.
Crate: She is working on crate training. She was afraid of going inside the crate but now she feels way more comfortable staying in her crate.
In the Car: With short distances, she seems to be fine, but for long car rides, she had car sickness.
She loves all the toys and tends to chew all of them like any other pup. Just be aware that she might eat the stuffing out of the toy. Other than that, she does not guard her resources, treats, or toys.
Also, she is afraid of stairs and sometimes barks if she feels scared. As mentioned above, she’s just not used to New things and it will be solved when she overcomes her fear.
