My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Aiko! I am young, energetic, athletic gal looking for a life of adventure. I am learning all
about the world through my foster family and AJL. I was found as a stray and had to spend a week at
BARC before a group of volunteers were able to find me a foster home. I’m a sensitive girl and like
living the positive reinforcement lifestyle to build my confidence and understanding of the world around
me. Maybe you can help me feel like the world is a great place to be!
I’m a pretty smart cookie and training is my favorite game. My foster family and I are working on our
repertoire which includes: sit, stay, down, touch, and go to bed. My favorite dog things to do are
sniffing, adventure walks, EATING, playing with just about any kind of toy, and napping.
My day to day revolves around sleeping, eating, and learning. My foster folks work too much; so my life
is pretty on schedule. The predictability works for me. I wake up energized in my crate with the sun.
After some place work and outside time, foster mom takes me on a walk. We like to mix it up with
training on a loose leash and running free on a long lead in a big empty field while working on
commands. We only walk a mile or two; because I would rather burn energy on sniffing than running.
Did I mention that I was smart? Even my meals are prepared for me in kongs, puzzles, and toys. I am a
pretty balanced lady, I definitely want to work and play; but I can take a nap like it’s nobody’s business!
The fosters leave a few toys or a kong lined with peanut butter when they leave for the work day.
Honestly, I sleep most of the day while they are gone. In the evenings, we do more training, play, and
snuggling before I crawl into my crate to eat that yummy treat on my pillow.
I can be a little slow to warm up with new people; but if you respect my space and toss plenty of treats, I
will open up. I place a lot of value in trust. I’ve met several strangers that have won me over with
patience and hot dogs. Once you get to know me, you will see that I am a loving dog who enjoys
cuddles and play on the ground! Sometimes, my happiness bottles over; so small kids and dogs may not
be prepared for my exuberance. I would also really like a calm, distraction less, non-competitive house.
I’m still learning to play and share with other dogs, so need a home that is able to focus exclusively on
helping me grow and flourish.
I know my life sounds glamourous! I’d really like to find some people who are interested in taking my
training to the next level and enjoy my potential.
