My story

We’re happy to share that Petey is now accepting applications!!! 🎉
After being found as a stray and taken to a shelter, Petey made his way into our care. When he was found he had substantial muscle atrophy and was significantly underweight. Petey also had chronic ear issues and other minor malnutrition related issues. Since being in care he has started to slowly regain muscle mass and the ears have also vastly improved with care and treatment. Petey is an American Bulldog mix, and approximated to be 5-7 years old. He is low to medium energy and currently has 1 or 2 walks a day or plays other games with his foster family. He is low key in the home and is quite content while alone but prefers to be in close company with his people.
Petey can be nervous of new people, but mostly of men. With the ability to choose his level of comfort, some patience and high value rewards he has been able to gain confidence in a short amount of time. But because he is unsure we are asking for a home without younger children.
Petey has shown no signs of drive to small animals or critters in the exposure he has had so far. We have not had many opportunities to have managed meetings but based on what we have seen, we feel he has the potential to have dog friends/siblings. Cats are unknown but could be explored further as well.
