Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet Sahara, a female Australian Shepherd Mix who is 9 months old and weighs 20 lbs. She is spayed and current on immunizations.
No lie, the veterinarian's notes on Sahara say “this is the sweetest dog.” The kind of canine that has never met a stranger, she is super friendly and a big snuggler-- her favorite thing to do is cuddle up and nap.
At around 20lbs, Sahara is very much an Aussie at heart. While cuddling may be her favorite hobby, she is also very energetic and loves to run and play. Fast as a whip, she very much enjoys chasing after her foster sister and playing ball in the backyard.
Sahara is an angel on a leash and does great when interacting with other dogs and people. She does consider squirrels to be the enemy, however, so you may get a pull here and there when she spots one. While she is good with commands and knows “sit,” “walk” and “stay,” she does still have a lot of puppy energy and likes to jump when she gets excited.
Her new owner should be prepared to work with her on commands. She is also great with kids, the only potential concern would be jumping. While Sahara is good with other dogs in the house, it is recommended that her forever home have no other dogs, or the dog/s be older/more docile. She is very much the star of the show and loves getting all of the attention.
She does great at the vet (especially when they feed her squeeze cheese) and is easy to take for rides in the car. She is also highly food motivated and loves to eat…treats, bones, kibble, anything and everything she can get her paws on.
Sahara was found at around 7 months old as a stray in Alabama. While not much is known about her background, she exhibits all of the qualities you would want in a great dog- she is so loving, loyal and sweet. To get to her foster home she rode in an airplane, to which the pilot said she just wanted to lay in his lap the entire time.
Potentially because she has spent some time in a shelter, Sahara does have some separation anxiety and does not like being crated. It is highly recommended her forever home have an owner or owners that are home often, and able to give her all the love and cuddles this sweet girl deserves. IN PERSON MEET AND GREET PREFERRED.
