Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet our sweet crooner- Elvis the Doberman.
Elvis is a young dog at just a year old but life has been hard for him up to this point. Through no fault of his own, his "owners" moved into an apartment and then gave Elvis away to humans that unfortunately abandoned him and left him to defend for himself in the streets of Houston.
Our rescue quickly stepped in to give this young man a new start and to rewrite his story to one with a happy ending.
Dobermans are known to be Fearless, Loyal and Alert. Elvis is no exception to these characteristics and we believe he is the quintessential Doberman. He is certainly a "velcro dog", is loyal and loves his "people". He performs silly and goofy dober-dork antics that have his foster family laughing at his shenanigans.
His current foster family has other dogs and children and Elvis does well with all of them.
His foster family also has two cats and Elvis exhibits no signs of aggression towards them, although he is definitely curious. With proper and slow introductions, Elvis should do well socializing and sharing a home with cats.
Due to Elvis' rough beginnings he will need basic training as his previous owners did not spend any time with foundation/basic obedience training. He does know several commands such as sit and down, and his current foster mom is working on other basic training fundamentals. His foster mom believes that he is a fast and eager learner, and that he is incredibly smart!
He is housebroken, is crate trained and also loves his fluffy toys as well as chewing on lovely hard bones. Elvis also enjoys romps in the backyard, throwing the ball for him to chase and bring it back.
Elvis will need an active guardian/family as this big boy has lots of energy and will need daily walks/jog/runs. Once you have siphoned off that energy he is ready to crash and snuggle and exchange kisses with you on the couch.
If you are ready to have your own personal Elvis concerts, please apply for an application to be considered and have your meet and greet with Elvis.
*Recent large breed dog experience is required and experience specifically with Dobermans is preferred.
