Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Available for adoption in Port Jervis, NY.
Corky is a cattle dog mix, about 5 months old, neutered, potty-trained, weighing about 33 pounds, and is UTD on all preventatives and vaccines.
Having a rough start at life, Corky was found as a stray, and didn't know all the pleasures of being a puppy until he was placed in his foster home. Upon arrival at his foster home, he was a little nervous meeting his foster brothers (small and large dogs.), but once he got to know them, all he wants to do now is play with them!
Corky has lots of energy, and when his foster brothers do not want to play, he keeps himself occupied by chasing his tail and playing with many toys. His favorite toys are rope toys and hard Nylabone toys as he is still teething, but will consider anything left out a chew toy as well (will counter surf).
Corky loves being outside and does walk ok on a leash with some pulling as it is new to him, but a fenced where he can run around and burn up his energy is highly recommended.
He will need a home that will continue to work on his crate training, as he is just starting to learn it is not a scary place. He is still adjusting to the idea of a crate, as he barks and does not understand why he can't hang out with his foster brothers all the time. Corky is making a lot of progress and just started sleeping through the night in his crate without barking or crying.
Corky was said to have some resource guarding with food in the past, but his foster has been working with him when it comes to meal time and has not seen any aggressive behavior. As a matter of fact he is very enthusiastic about food. Corky is both food and toy motivated, which will be an asset in training.
Corky all around is super friendly and eager to meeting new people, but has not been around many kids. He has not been cat tested, so we are unsure how he feels about them. Corky would thrive in an active home to meet his high energy needs. He will need a home that will continue to work on his training as this 5 month old pup has lots of potential!
