Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Available for adoption in New York City.
Remington (Remy) is an Australian Shepherd Mix. He is a Red Tri, Male, 9 months old, Neutered. UTD on preventatives and vaccinations.
Ideal home: Remy is a happy go-lucky dog who loves being with humans, is always smiling, and has tons of puppy energy. He would do fantastic in an active home with a fenced yard and with an owner who can devote lots of time to him. A home with another dog and children over 12 would also be a good fit for him. He is a medium sized dog, around 40 lbs, and is great with other dogs. He has not been tested with kids or cats.
Remy was surrendered to a shelter before coming to ASF when his family could no longer care for him. He is a love bug who loves attention and cuddles. After an active play session Remy will lounge around all day and only wants to be with his humans. He is a very curious pup and loves to sniff anything new that crosses his path, so we are working on his leash training. He's made tons of progress since being in the city but does tend to get excited when he sees other dogs. He can also get a bit excited after having his meals but usually does well when redirected to learn/perform tricks. Remy barks on occasion when he hears visitors outside the home, but stops right when the noise stops.
Remy does have separation anxiety and we are working on crate training, but he will need additional training in this area.
Remy is great at learning new tricks. After only a few days with him he was able to learn sit, stay/come, paw, lay down, bang, and go home. He is an extremely smart guy and will always come when you're ready to go even while having fun at the dog park. He also doesn't chase/bark at squirrels or birds, he just loves to sniff around.
Remy is a chewer and loves all chew toys (only second to the affection/attention/pets/kisses/cuddles of humans). He also enjoys the frisbee and with work, could be a great frisbee dog. In addition, he just loves being with other dogs and plays very nicely with them.
