This 4 month old, appx 23 lb pup is energetic, friendly and playful. Scotty is thriving is his foster home where he gets along wonderfully with his canine foster brother and has quickly learned to respect the resident cats.
Scotty is up to date on all vaccines and preventatives and has received a clean bill of health from our rescue Vet. Scotty is ready for adoption and ready to go home with his forever family NOW!
Scotty's ideal adopter is dog experienced but we welcome first time dog owners as well. Both will need a stay at home/work from home/take to work schedule (currently as well as post-Covid) in order to continue his training and all-important socialization. He would thrive in a home with one (or more!) healthy, playful, young adult dogs who can welcome him to the pack, show him the ropes and give him gentle correction. Because of his age and typical puppy behaviors, we feel he would adjust best in a home with no children under six years of age. We will consider families with younger children on a case by case basis.
Scotty was the smallest pup in the litter but don't let that fool you: he is a bundle of energy and fun! He is super cute and has a unique "look"....especially with his occasional one ear up, one ear down situation...the photos really don't do him justice! He loves to play inside and outside with toys…be sure to watch the video? With his webbed feet (a trait of the Catahoula Leopard Dog, from his Mom) he will probably like to swim and will enjoy water sports. After playtime he would love to curl up next to you for a nap. He is crate trained! He sleeps through the night! He is *this close* to being house trained. His amazing foster Mom reports that he is learning the basic obedience commands very quickly! He is currently walking several miles a day in order to acclimate to leash walking and future training and will make great running/hiking partner when he is a little older. Continued daily exercise is a MUST!
Scotty will need an introductory Vet visit with his adopter's Vet of choice in order to continue his prescription preventatives. His neuter is the responsibility of his adopter and by Virginia law must be performed by six months of age.
Scotty will make an all around wonderful family dog!
Please note that Scotty's adoption fee is $350.

***Regarding Scotty's breed mix***
We had Scotty's mother, Coco, in rescue as well; she has been adopted. Coco appears to be a Catahoula Leopard Dog/Dutch Shepherd mix. Photos available on request. Scotty's breed mix is our best guess based on many years of identifying mixed breed dogs. His *precise* breed mix is unknown. We can make no absolute guarantees as to appearance or size when he is fully grown.
